Data Sources

Smart Mode (Recommended)

Hybrid approach: routes historical requests (1940–Sep 2025) to Google Cloud ARCO for instant download, and recent data (Oct 2025–present) to CDS. CDS requests are submitted first to queue while ARCO data downloads in parallel.

Google Cloud ARCO-ERA5

Analysis-Ready, Cloud-Optimized ERA5 data hosted on Google Cloud. No authentication required. Data stored in Zarr format enables fast subsetting and direct access without queue delays.

Copernicus CDS

Official Climate Data Store operated by ECMWF. Provides complete ERA5 archive with full temporal coverage. Requests enter a processing queue.

Land surface reanalysis with hourly atmospheric, land-surface, and soil variables.

Resolution: 0.1° (~9 km) | Coverage: 1950–present

Daily aggregates (mean, min, max, sum) derived from ERA5 single-level hourly data.

Resolution: 0.25° (~31 km) | Coverage: 1940–present

ERA5-Land Monthly

Monthly averaged land surface variables from ERA5-Land.

Resolution: 0.1° (~9 km) | Coverage: 1950–present
